Discovery of dynamite

     kiselgur, or dynamite. 

 

b.  What is it used for AND/OR why is it important?

 

     Dynamite is mostly used in mining and quarrying, but at one point, it was used in the military.  The dangerous nitroglycerine made the choice of dynamite as an unpopular esplosive.

 

c. Who discovered or invented this item.  

 

     Alfred Nobel discovered dynamite in Sweden, looking for a more explosive substance then black powder.

it was originally called "Nobel's blasting powder."

 

d. When was it discovered or invented.

 

     It was discovered in Sweden in 1863.

 

e. What was the reason or need for the discovery/invention?

 

     Alfred Nobel created dynamite to find a more explosive substance then the normal back then,  black powder.  He created it by mixing gunpowder and nitroglycerine.
